Values & Strategy

E.C.O.N.O.M.Y. (End-in-mind, Communication, Our-own, Newcomers, Order, Mandates, Yardsticks)

The values behind this Role for Ministry Participants

  1. E = End-in-mind: This is the value of participating with Jesus in keeping the End-in-Mind (the NLF Mission Statement!) as the Primary vision and strategy for managing our Finances with economy.
  2. C = Communication: This is the value of participating with Jesus in his being upfront, clear, open and frequently communicative toward the entire congregation and GCI headquarters in the giving, receiving, management and distribution of all of NLF’s monies.
  3. O = Our-own: This is the value of participating with Jesus in stewarding the monies of New Life Fellowship in such a way that the members, assets and administration given to us might be made healthy and strong FIRST – overflowing to reach out and care for, and include others.
  4. N = Newcomers: This is the value of participating with Jesus in making sure that we are truly Trinitarian in the way we handle finances, meaning that we are self-giving and generous with our monies, considering the needs of outsiders, all the communities and relationships to which we have been called, and especially toward potential newcomers, as we are able.
  5. O = Order: This is the value of participating with Jesus in being not only clear and open in the administration of our finances, but making sure the systems used to assist us are technologically up-to-date, enabling us to process and file financial information in an orderly way that makes it easy to retrieve and communicate to the average lay member! Comprehensive, complete and clear record-keeping is a must.
  6. M = Mandates: This is the value of participating with Jesus in making sure we follow as strictly as possible the mandates placed upon us by the GCI Financial Administration Manual, International, National and State financial Laws, and the agreed upon external controls (in addition to those mentioned above) that NLF may develop in the good interests of its local membership, through its Pastoral Team, Financial Team, Board and Advisory Council.
  7. Y = Yardsticks: This is the value of participating with Jesus in making sure we know where we are at financially at any given time, and having a strong sense of accountability built into the process of the financial team itself, and all of its internal and external transactions. This value helps us to appreciate setting, meeting and attaining goals, while also keeping track of things in such measureable ways that members can see whether or not our monies or objectives are being impacted positively, negatively, or not at all in the light of those goals.
